Camp Counselors

Rachel LaCour Niesen earned degrees in Art History and Photojournalism from the University of Missouri. She has been a professional photographer for nearly 20 years. She founded multiple software companies. She Co-Founded ShootQ, served as VP of Community at Pictage, Co-Founded a content marketing agency, and is currently a business development strategist at ShootProof. In addition to photography and executive leadership, Rachel shepherds the Save Family Photos community — over 30,000 people who share vintage family photos and the stories behind them. She also serves on the board of Atlanta Celebrates Photography. After capturing millions of photos for clients over the course of her career, her favorite subject is her son, Edward, born in September 2015.

Andrew Niesen‘s story parallels Rachel’s in many ways. In addition to being partners in life, they have also worked together for fifteen years. Andrew earned degrees in Anthropology and Photojournalism from the University of Missouri. He founded multiple software companies. He served as Co-Founder and CEO of ShootQ, EVP of product at Pictage and Director of Product at PhotoShelter. He’s currently a Digital Asset Management Consultant at LaCour+Niesen. In addition to photography and technology management, Andrew serves as a digital asset management consultant to small and medium-sized organizations. He earned his MBA from WHU/Kellogg at Northwestern. When he’s not geeking out, he’s traveling with Rachel and their son, Edward, who has already logged over 50,000 miles in the air since his birth less than three years ago.

Jared Platt is a professional destination wedding and lifestyle photographer based in Phoenix, Arizona.  He is also the photo industry's recognized workflow and efficiency expert and holds a Masters of Fine Arts in the Photographic Studies and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography from Arizona State University and has been a professional photographer and educator for the past 25 years. Jared's interactive style and attention to detail and craft make him an entertaining and demanding photography instructor. Cathi Nelson is the founder of APPO (Association of Personal Photo Organizers), an organization dedicated to helping individuals build successful photo preservation and organizing businesses.Under Cathi’s leadership, APPO provides skill based and technical training, professional development and networking opportunities to thousands of professional and amateur Photo Organizers from around the globe. Regarded as a pioneer in the photo organizing industry, Cathi is a sought after industry speaker and has been quoted in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, The Atlantic and Better Homes and Gardens. She also serves on the board of Directors for The Imaging Alliance and Fotobridge. She brings 25 years of corporate sales and advertising expertise to the members she serves and holds a certificate in Women’s Leadership from the Hartford Seminary, a Master’s Degree in Liberal Studies – Humanities from Wesleyan University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from UConn.
